As the UK’s largest youth organisation dedicated completely to girls, Girlguiding is working to shape an equal world where all girls can be happy, safe and fulfil their potential. We’re 300,000 girls between 4 and 18 who come together to laugh, learn and have adventures. We’re 23,000 groups in communities across the UK. And we’re 80,000 volunteers who make guiding happen by giving their time, talents and enthusiasm.

Girls thrive in Girlguiding. They can be themselves and feel at home in our relaxed and welcoming all-girl spaces. They have fun and try new things, without so many of the pressures girls face in today’s world: everyday sexism, online pressures and social anxieties. They’re up to 23% more confident than girls in the UK on average, and 36% more likely to have done something good for their local community or environment.

Powered by our inspiring volunteers, we help all girls know they can do anything. 88% of young members say the volunteers in their unit make them feel like they matter. Volunteering is a flexible time commitment; you can give as much or as little time as you’d like volunteering. Whether you want to help behind the scenes, at special events, on a one-off basis or get involved every week, there’s loads of ways to inspire girls with Girlguiding.

Plus, volunteering for Girlguiding doesn’t only help girls in your community. We also offer lots of opportunities to learn new things that suit you, your interests and lifestyle. You can build your own skills and make your CV stand out by taking our leader development programme. You can even complete specialised training for volunteers. From becoming a first aider to a qualified outdoor activity instructor, whatever it is you’re looking for, there’ll be something in it for you!

If you have any time spare that you can give to help reach more young girls, whether that’s helping at a weekly meeting for an hour or so, giving a talk or demonstration, even accounting skills, please do reach out to us. The more helpers we have in our weekly meetings, the more girls we can take off of our huge waiting lists.
