Profile
1st St Ives Rainbows began in March 1990 and is the only Rainbows group in St Ives.
Made up of young girls aged 4-7 years, we are members of the Girlguiding Cambridgeshire West County and the wider Girlguiding UK community, with many girls moving onto Brownies after their time with us.
Run entirely by Volunteers, we try to make Girlguiding affordable for all, and as we are a Charity, the girls help us with lots of fundraising activities.
Meeting weekly, we give the girls space to have fun, the chance to learn something new by trying a whole range of different activities, the opportunity to explore their own interests and earn interest badges, and to learn to be good members of their wider community. Over their time with the unit, they make lots of new friends and develop their self-confidence (as well as getting their hands dirty with nature, games, arts and crafts!). Each girl makes a promise to “do their best” and to be “kind and helpful.” We live the Girlguiding motto – Girls can do anything!
If you are interested in volunteering with us, joining an amazing team of volunteers in a lovely fun unit of young girls (with lots of giggles), please email us at rainbowsstives@gmail.com, visit our Facebook Page – 1stStIvesRainbows, or visit the wesbite www.girlguiding.org.uk/get-involved. EVERYONE 18+ is welcome to Volunteer with us, with no experience neccessary – comprehensive training and DBS checks are provided, with transferrable skills gained that look great on your CV!
