Freya Hartley, 16, finished her GCSE’s at St Ivo Academy in June. She has had a love of baking since she was small, inspired and taught by her grandma, who sadly passed away last year. Her ideal summer job was to bake celebration cakes – supported by her mum, local Opera Singer, Karen, she ambitiously decided to set up her own business called ‘Little Freya’s Bakery’ from her home in St Ives.
After photographing her step-dad’s birthday cake, a three layer chocolate cherry cake she was flooded with orders and 8 weeks later she has orders well into 2025, and has received many fantastic reviews from happy customers. Freya completed a level 2 Food handling course on top of her GCSE in food and nutrition, is fully covered by business insurance and has been inspected by an Environmental officer at County District Council. Freya’s creations can be viewed on her Facebook page, Freya’s Little Bakery and can work to any specification to bake you a personal, bespoke cake for your celebration which she boxes and delivers locally to her customers within a 5 mile radius.
Her prices are competitive and she is happy to discuss any allergies, gluten free or vegan alternatives. Although Freya specialises in celebration cakes, she has also had orders for fudge tart, Bakewell tart, corn flake cake, lemon drizzle loaf, brownies, rocky road and millionaires shortbread. People are really impressed by her innovative, beautiful cupcakes. A full menu can be viewed on her page, but if there is anything special you’d like, Freya will work with you to create something special for any occasion!
