| Almost 30 kind-hearted runners had a spring in their step as they helped raise around £2,500 for Caring Together Charity at the Huntingdon Inflatable 5K. They bounced around the 15 obstacles laid out before them over two laps of the track at Huntingdon Racecourse. Whether treating it as a race or going at walking pace, the St Ives-based charity’s team members took the event in their chosen stride, with lots of fun had by everyone involved while raising crucial funds to support their work helping unpaid carers. Caring Together community fundraiser Lynnette Ballantyne organised the team. And in the spirit of ‘if you can’t beat them, join them’, she also took on the Inflatable 5K, along with her husband Garry and children Will and Aimee. Lynnette was thrilled by the amount raised – and at getting to the finish line herself! She said: “I’m usually on the other side of the fence, but I thought I would take part in the Inflatable 5K. I didn’t know if I was going to complete the course, but I made it and even got the medal. Every ache was worth it for such a great cause. “It was an amazing day. From start to finish it was full of laughter, energy and a real sense of togetherness. “The amount of money raised is fantastic. Everyone did an incredible job. The effort, commitment and support from so many people was brilliant to see. “A huge thank you to everyone who took part, donated, or supported us along the way. It truly means a lot to Caring Together Charity.” |
